![]() ![]() Then who knows what the new CEO's vision is going to be. The time to worry is if Grant ever steps down or is ousted. There's no guarantee that at some point Blackmagic won't change opinion (especially if Grant Petty ever retires or is replaced), but history and many of Grant's statements on subscription licensing indicate it's highly unlikely to change any time soon. Grant Petty was recently quoted in an interview expressing an EXTREMELY harsh opinion of subscription software. Hello, simple question : is there a way to use an Activation Code with Resolve Studio 12.5. Is it possible that macOS Sierra 10.12. I also tried opening version of Resolve, 14.0b3, 14.0b5, 14.06 and all had the same message. I tried the dongle in two different ports. So fretting over the lack of assurance is wasted time and energy.īlackmagic has yet to force a repurchase of any resolve license (unless you lose your serial number or dongle) for anyone, and it has many years of history here. 'DaVinci Resolve Studio License Dongle Not Found' I have a dongle and its light is glowing. Yeah, but my entire point is that any comfort you might get from a statement is illusory. At no point did I ask about a guarantee I am looking for a statement in order to have some comfort about the future. Rumple wrote:This is true, but not relevant. My USB license dongle was for Resolve Studio version 12, and it still works with Resolve version 17 (haven't tried version 18 yet). For example someone who has it already but who got a new license when buying a camera. The only way to get it at a good discount is to buy it from another person. Just used the contact form on that page - thanks for pointing it out. Sold the Speed Editor on eBay which brought the cost down of Resolve by about 60. That situation is unlikely to change.Īs to contacting Blackmagic, have you tried the email link at the bottom of the Support page. THE DONGLE CANNOT BE CONVERTED TO A LICENSE FILE SUBSEQUENTLY Resolve Studio is a very clear, cheap and easy to learn editing software. The Studio dongle or activation code works with previous, present, and almost certainly future versions. Though they have never said that they wont, Blackmagic have never charged extra for version updates. I am trying to gauge the utility of support, as it is part of the value equation for the Studio version. ![]() ![]() Of course, the emails could have gone to spam and they just never received it, hence my forum question about whether or not silence is typical. Silence across three emails spaced over a month is poor support. For example, "we have never charged for upgrades and have no plans to do so but reserve the right to change this without notice". I expect an answer to any question put to a support email. I dont feel Ive found clear answers in the Licensing FAQ, so here are my questions: First, I understand that either key or dongle versions of the DaVinci Resolve 17 Studio license will activate both DaVinci Resolve Studio AND Fusion 17 Studio. You can't expect an answer to a question like yours. A Resolve Studio license (dongle or activation code) will work with Fusion Studio 17. ![]()
